I say “some planning” because, at the time of purchase, you don’t need to know the exact dates.

You can buy tickets for two weeks’ worth, or however many days, of travel for a particular month.

No need to stress about certain days early on.

If you are traveling in a group, you can also save money by buying tickets in bulk.

Also, to avoid paying full price, the railways usually provide discounts for children and seniors.

What Type of Pass Do You Need?

Either Interrail or Eurail.

Are you unsure of what type of rail pass you need?

For the Interrail pass, you must be a citizen of Europe.

Even if you live in Europe, you must be an actual citizen for this pass.

If you are from anywhere outside of Europe or live there but are not a citizen, you will need a Eurail pass.

How Do You Activate Your Ticket?

There are a couple way to activate your ticket.

For ticket holders, you will be required to activate your ticket just before you board. 

Activation can be completed at the train station, or if you have an e-ticket, you can activate it right from the app associated with it. 

Be aware that your ticket cannot be changed or refunded once activated. 

I suggest arriving at the train station early in case there are any issues, or you have questions. 

Also, if you have not activated your ticket yet, you can change times, locations, or anything on your itinerary as often as you’d like!

What Type Of Seat Is Right For You?

There are many different options to choose from!
